ECPI University Students and Staff: Making their Mark in the Community

Angel DiSylvestro, a Cyber and Network Security student at the Richmond/Moorefield campus passed the CompTIA Security+ exam and was subsequently hired by TEK Systems as a Tier 1 Help Desk Analyst with SAIC, a premier integrator in the technical, engineering, intelligence, and enterprise information technology markets with approximately 15,000 employees worldwide.

William Snyder, Keith Jackson, Crystal Stauffer, Stephen Darlow, Selena Fonseca, and Scott Emde, Business Administration students at the Newport News campus, passed three certifications – Six Sigma, Project Management, and Business Analyst Certifications with an Expert Rating. Each were recognized with “I’m Certified” t-shirts and a $300.00 certification scholarship.

Dr. Deborah Clark, MSN Nurse Administrator at the Virginia Beach campus, will be delivering a presentation – Game On! Using Game Mechanics to Motivate and Engage Nursing Students – at the 2017 AACN Master’s Education Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Megan West, Cynthia Busby, and Sharde Blassingame, Medical Assistant students at the Greenville campus, completed the Cancer Education Train the Trainer Seminar at the Medical University of South Carolina, and will now go out into the community to teach cancer awareness and prevention.

Joye McElroy, MSN, RN, CEN, CHSE, Director of Nursing at the Charleston campus, was selected as an Item Writer for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination (NCLEX®). A subject matter expert, she was selected on the basis of her clinical specialty and nursing expertise.

Karen Burgess, Greenville Campus President, was chosen as a panelist for the Bon Secours St. Francis Foundation Forum, a program that provides opportunities for community leaders to explore issues surrounding healthcare.

Rose Moore, Timothy Daniel, Heather Briggs, Trevor Johnston, and Jorge Rivera, Business Management students at the Richmond/Moorefield campus, earned their Expert Rating Project Management Certification. Each were recognized with “I’m Certified” t-shirts and a $100.00 certification scholarship.

Dr. Toni Chamberlain, Online Radiography Program Director, was published in Radiologic Technology for her submission, “Making the World a Better Place,” which details her work to provide care to people in Luang Prabang, Laos as a Siemens ASRT Foundation Community Outreach Fellow.
