The Richmond campus’ health information management associate degree program has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), making it the only college in Central Virginia to achieve this distinction.
CAHIIM is the globally-recognized and trusted accreditation organization for health informatics and health information management education programs and works to ensure the development of a workforce that meets the challenge of an information-intensive environment and its impact on global health.
Most notably, this accreditation makes graduates from the campus’ health information management program eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification exam.
“We are honored that the Commission has acknowledged the quality of our curriculum and class instruction,” says Campus Program Director Robyn Richardson. “Employers recognize this as the gold standard within our profession and prefer employees who have graduated from accredited programs. Because we are now the only accredited program in Central Virginia and one of just three statewide, I expect that our students will be well-received in the job market.”
