When you step into the new nursing ICU floor recently added to the Virginia Beach Medical Careers Institute campus, you might just think you’ve found your way into an actual hospital.
“Let us never consider ourselves finished nurses. We must be learning all of our lives.”
— Florence Nightingale
Comprised of six patient rooms, plus a triage and debriefing rooms, students can move around the 8,200-square-foot facility learning from high-fidelity simulations mimicking real-world pediatric and adult scenarios. A large nurse’s station runs down the middle of the floor, and computers and call buttons sound and light up just like they will one day for their real patients. The hands-on nursing program helps future medical staff learn and practice safe nursing care in a clinical setting.
