Hands-On Learning: In and Out of the Classroom

Health Information Management students at Bon Secours.

Richmond/Moorefield Campus – Health Information Management students visited the Bon Secours Operations Center in Richmond to apply what they are learning, using the same HER and coding software they use in class, viewing a live application at the center and assisting with simulated coding scenarios.

Virginia Beach Campus – Healthcare Administration students participated in a mass casualty drill as part of their class, Crisis in the Community. Held at the Hampton Veterans Administration Hospital, they played a variety of roles, including victims, and filling out After Action Reports to help hospital staff better prepare for an actual mass casualty.
