First-of-its-Kind List Rates Institutions Aligned with STEM Occupations
ECPI University has been designed a 2015 STEM JobsSM Approved College by STEM JobsSM media, a provider of education and career resources for junior and senior high school students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). “With the list of STEM JobsSM Approved Colleges we are able to help parents, students, and guidance counselors evaluate how well education is translating into real-world jobs, and how responsive institutions are to meeting those demands,” said Daniel Nichols, President of STEM JobsSM. “We’re pleased to showcase schools like ECPI University as a school leading the way.”
The list’s survey measures how effectively colleges, universities, and trade schools align their programs to high demand, high paying STEM jobs. Ratings are based on a rigorous quantitative assessment that measures schools on criteria created by Victory Media with the assistance of an independent academic advisory board. Specifically, a STEM JobsSM Approved College designation signifies:
- That programs are aligned with high paying jobs that are in demand
- There are resources and relationships that help students get jobs
- That ECPI University is supporting diverse students and faculties in STEM fields
- There are specific resources dedicated to supporting STEM student achievement and success
It should be noted that ECPI University has been dedicated to STEM long before the term was even invented. In 1966, it was created to fill a shortage of computer programmers. Since then, ECPI University has added curriculum in Computer Information Systems, Engineering Technology, Health Science, Nursing, Business, and Criminal Justice. Each one of its programs integrates industry-standard technology into coursework to reflect the evolving role technology plays in each career field.
