Anthony Mijares is many things…a devoted father, disabled veteran, entrepreneur, and community advocate. He’s also a student at ECPI University’s Richmond/Moorefield campus where he is pursuing a degree in IT Management.
An Army Combat Medic Veteran, Anthony served at Fort Stewart, Georgia in the 3rd Infantry Division where he was deployed overseas to several different countries, including Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, for which he received an Army Commendation Medal and three Army Achievement Medals. After completing his service, he ventured into the world of entrepreneurism and never looked back.

Anthony has been successful in many different areas of business and currently owns and operates BluePrint Sign and Design, a one-stop shop for marketing, branding, website and logo designs, and signage. His passion for business is equaled only by his desire to help others. In 2015, he founded his own non-profit, Lightbulb Organization, which specializes in mentoring children, young adults, and disabled veterans. He is also a Rotarian and a member of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Given all that Anthony has accomplished, it’s no surprise that he’s become a campus mentor to many of his fellow students.

“This experience has allowed me to open a path my kids can follow and see that goals are obtainable if you work hard at them and not give up,” says Anthony. “Once I walk across that stage at graduation, I will have accomplished another goal thanks to ECPI University.”
As he closes in on graduation, Anthony has also become certified in project management and holds a Green Belt Six Sigma certificate and Business Analyst Certificate. Already a successful businessman, Anthony says he came to ECPI University because he wanted to improve his business and technical knowledge. By example, he has set the bar high and exemplifies ECPI University’s philosophy of lifelong learning.
