ECPI University Charleston partnered with Community’s Hope Impact Center for a two-day STEM event encouraging local youth interested in future careers in cybersecurity or software development in July 2022.
Led by ECPI University Computer and Information Science (CIS) students and CIS Program Director Ed Smalls, the middle or high school-aged participants received fun, hands-on instruction in computer configuration over two, three-hour sessions.
In the first session, students learned about networking, building a computer, gaming and hacking. The next day, they discovered what it takes to plan and design computer networks, including cloud computer networks, and how to protect their system (security).
Both well-attended events were held at Community’s Hope Impact Center, and were free and open to the public!
