Online Accounting students Tiquan Scott, Marybeth McCoy, Lauren Rosenbaum, Felecia Manson, Alan Johnson, and Doris Rowland have received scholarships from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) to support their pursuit of the Certified Management Accountant certification. The IMA Scholarship is limited to 10 students per academic year and is awarded to high-achieving undergraduate and graduate students attending accredited colleges and universities worldwide.
Kayla Courtenay, a nursing graduate from the Charleston campus, has been named the Berkeley Hospital Nurse of the Year. This honor was bestowed upon her for her hard work and dedication to patients at Berkeley Hospital. Prior to winning, she also received two “Just Catch” Awards and an Excellence in Action Award for mitigating errors in patient care.
Tammie Heintzman, a member of the nursing faculty at the Charlotte campus, as well as a pianist and composer, was invited to perform at this year’s North Carolina Nursing Conference. She has several CDs on Amazon and was also a guest on the conference’s podcast during the event.
Austin Koenig, a dual credit student from Summerville High School attending the Charleston campus, has passed his CompTIA Cloud+ Certification exam.
Dr. Lindsey Crumlin, Jr., an adjunct faculty member at the Columbia campus, recently served as Education Program Director for the Palmetto Medical Dental Pharmaceutical Association’s Annual Meeting/Convention. In that role, Dr. Crumlin was responsible for securing and coordinating all speakers and making sure protocols were followed in ensuring the awarding of Continuing Medical Education credits.
Dr. Crumlin was also awarded the Carl C. Fulbright Humanitarian Service Award for community service activities that included a symposium for community education on Pre-exposure Prophylaxis to stop the spread of HIV and his service as a member of the South Carolina State Guard.
Dr. Keith Morneau, Dean of Computer and Information Science, recently led a webinar for the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and Society of American Military Engineers titled, “Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.”
Ed Smalls, Computer and Information Science Program Director at the Charleston Campus, recently sat on a panel at the GenCyber Camp hosted at the Citadel. He answered questions from cyber-inspired youth on what classes to take in school to better prepare themselves for a future in the profession.
Thomas Rzemyk, a member of the online Criminal Justice faculty, recently co-authored an article published in the International Association of Chiefs of Police publication, Police Chief, titled “Finding Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity in Policing.” The article offers clear and concise, evidence-based recommendations to implement effective and efficient changes in today’s era.
Gamal Abdel-Ghany, a member of the economics faculty at the Northern Virginia campus, has just published a new book, “The Unique Way of the Economic Thinking.”
Dr. Corey Carpenter, Online Business Management Program Director, has been nominated to become President of the Board of Directors for the Institute of Management Accounts Albuquerque Chapter.
Stephen Humphries, an adjunct member of the Criminal Justice faculty at the Newport News campus, has just been promoted to major with the James City County Police Department.
