In keeping with its pledged support for the Governor of Virginia’s initiative to produce more cybersecurity professionals, ECPI University has developed a new Accelerated Cyber and Information Security Technology degree.
Currently being offered at its Virginia Beach and Northern Virginia campuses, ECPI University’s degree completion program is designed to offer those with an existing bachelor degree a unique, streamlined opportunity to use credits earned in their current degree toward a degree in Cyber and Network Security, all in just 12 months.
This program places emphasis on cybercrime detection, as well as the design, development and implementation of tools and software. Students will gain the opportunity to build networks, and design and develop strategies to assist clients with technical problems and keep their networks secure.
The need for cybersecurity professionals is rising each year, and employers are scrambling to meet the staggering demand. According to Cybersecurity Ventures, the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs is expected to grow by 350 percent, from one million positions in 2013 to 3.5 million in 2021.
This career-switcher program is the second of its kind being offered by ECPI. The University currently offers a similar program at its Orlando campus which allows students who already have a Bachelor’s degree in another discipline to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as one year.
