Andrew Martineau, a member of the English faculty at the Northern Virginia campus, had his second children’s book published, entitled When Shadows Fill Your Room. An active playwright as well, he recently won the Best Script Award for his play Etched in Stone in the Watermelon One-Act Play Festival in Maryland.
Dr. Kam Ng, a member of the Electronics Engineering Technology faculty at the Richmond/Moorefield campus, has been named to the board of directors of RVA STEM, a nonprofit volunteer group that works to inspire, engage, and educate underserved youth in the Greater Richmond, Virginia community in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
John Brandt, a business management and network security student from the Richmond/Moorefield campus, has been named executive director of the Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce.

Tiffany Harrell, a practical nursing student at the Virginia Beach campus, has been awarded the Jon Poteet Scholarship from National Technical Honor Society.
Tiffiny Shockley, a member of the Medical Administration faculty at the Charlotte campus, has published a new book, Blackness: The Life and Times of an Unpopular People. Highly sought after as a speaker, she attended the International Public Health Conference 2016, hosted by the Tomorrow People Organization in Kuching, Malaysia, where she presented Perceptions and Intentions of African American Women Regarding Abortion and Pregnancy Prevention.
