Charleston Campus – Computer and Information Science Program Director Bryan Powers, along with three of his students – Erik Cheung, Shelton Jamison, and Jon Zwakenberg – worked with students at Military Magnet Academy during their Hour of Code event, teaching them how to use HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) to create video games.
Charleston Campus – Faculty and staff donated holiday toys to 10 children through HALOS, a non-profit organization that provides support and advocacy to abused and neglected children.
Charleston Campus – To express support for U.S. troops deployed overseas during the holiday season, Charleston Campus Librarian Shannon Duffy set up a card writing station where students, staff, and faculty could write personal notes of appreciation and gratitude.

Charlotte Campus – Students, faculty, and staff collected donations to aid recent hurricane victims, and presented the American Red Cross with a check for $806.
Charlotte Campus – Medical Assisting students volunteered at Second Harvest Food Bank which serves 19 counties in North and South Carolina.
Charlotte Campus – Medical Assisting students collected blankets and other items for the Ronald McDonald House which then provides them to the homeless during the cold weather months.
Charlotte Campus – The Food Drive Express made a stop on campus to pick up donations collected by students, faculty, and staff for Second Harvest Food Bank.
Columbia Campus – Students, along with Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Sylvia Basile, handed out food, toiletries, and clothing they had collected for the homeless as part of the Blessing Bag Project.
Greensboro Campus – Students, faculty, and staff worked with the Diversity Club to collect donations to create “welcome bags” of toiletries and household supplies for Leslie’s House which provides a safe haven for homeless women.

Greenville Campus – Constructed entirely by students and staff, the campus’ float at this year’s Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade won the Mayor’s Choice Award.
Newport News Campus – Campus Director of Finance Gina Boyd (left), Student Record Coordinator Lisa Cruickshank Ray (right), and CIS Program Director Thomas Sullivan led fundraising efforts to raise money for the Animal Aid Society, a local, no-kill dog shelter.
Newport News Campus – ECPI University hosted its annual Community Day, an event filled with fun and games, along with a wide range of community and educational resources, including health and wellness screenings, free chair massages, PC virus scans/cleanups, child ID kits by the James City County Police Department, and more.
Northern Virginia Campus – Practical Nursing students and faculty co-sponsored a Breast Cancer Awareness event at the Manassas Mall, handing out information on breast cancer and providing free health screenings.
Raleigh Campus – Each year, students, faculty, and staff raise funds and collect donations for Calling All Angels, a campus project that provides holiday presents to children of ECPI University students who are struggling financially. This year, the campus “adopted” 34 children.
Richmond/Innsbrook Campus – Campus Director of Academic Affairs Matt Grinsell and CIS Instructor Pete Klatt hosted a cyber-training session sponsored by Dominion Energy Resources for Tech for Troops. Local veterans learned about personal computer security and the implications of identity theft in the cyber-era. Upon successful completion of the class, the veterans earned a certificate of completion and were given a free laptop. ECPI University CIS and EET students regularly volunteer with Tech for Troops to refurbish used computers that are donated to veterans transitioning to the civilian workforce.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – Students, faculty, and staff once again participated in the annual “A Million Thanks” campaign which sends holiday letters of thanks and encouragement to military service members deployed overseas. This year, they set a goal of 150 cards, and ended up with 185.

Richmond/Moorefield Campus – During Breast Cancer Awareness month, students, faculty, and staff raised funds by selling pink lanyards, wall signs, and dress down passes.
Richmond/Moorefield Campus – Medical Assisting students Tanice Lewis and Kinslee Stroud volunteered at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s Flu Shot Clinic.
Virginia Beach Campus – Healthcare Administration (HCA) students volunteered at the Veteran’s Expo, sponsored by the Senior Advocate Network Group (SANG).
Virginia Beach Campus – For the second straight year, Medical Assisting supported the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out: Walk to STOP Diabetes. They provided encouragement and cheered on more than 800 event walkers at this annual event held at the spectacular Virginia Beach oceanfront boardwalk.
They also provided blood pressure and glucose screenings, along with healthy living tips and information about diabetes, for approximately 70 people who stopped by the University’s table. This offered the medical assisting students a tremendous opportunity to engage with the public and bring to life what they are learning in the classroom.
